New banknotes, according to plan, use polymer as substrate. Security features are strengthened to prevent counterfeiting, and the new top-to-bottom transparent window was introduced in this time's issuance. In addition, for this year, in order to celebrate The Queen's 10th anniversary of her Accession to the Throne, a commemorative banknote with denomination 𝘧 1000 was issued as well. Published by Royal Household Agency 'Kangzhi' decided as the new era name.KANGZHI, or literally 'moderation & uprightness', has been designated as the new era name by the Royal Household Agency, commissioned by the Royal Decree published by Her Majesty the Queen earlier today. The final decision Kangzhi was selected from the total of 5 proposals. The original Chinese word is extracted from Chinese ancient book ‘Shu Jing, the Book of History’. In its Chapter ‘Hongfan’, there is written script meaning: [Those who] are upright and moderately disposed can, [on the one hand,] force the obedience of those who are not compliant and [thereby] manage by subduing [others] with force. [On the other hand, they can], with gentleness, manage by captivating those who are mild [in character]. The lowly are to be subdued by force. The eminent are to be captivated with gentleness. The Era System will commence from 1 july 2019.A statutory instrument regarding connected issues with the commencement of the Era System, which will be used as a secondary calendar simultaneously with the primary one - Gregorian calendar, will be published in late June.

The legislations will be coming into force as Her Majesty the Queen assented in accordance with their commencement dates.
